This an English Summary of the Original Finnish Report. The goal of the research project of The Finnish Society on Media Education, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, was to study the media use of 7-11-year-old children and their experiences on media use. Another goal of the research was to find out whether surveys conducted by adolescents would be a viable method in researching children. In our study, fifth-graders filled in the survey independently, but first and third-graders were interviewed by peer students from the upper level of elementary school. The method was first tried with encouraging results in the 2010 Children’s Media Barometer by the Finnish Society on Media Education, which was a first of its kind.
