Harkitse hakuehtojesi keventämistä käyttämällä sanaa OR: sininen smurffi saa vähemmän osumia kuin sininen OR smurffi.

Internet is part of children’s and youths everyday lives. On the Internet you can search information, play games, discuss and meet new people. The net is an excellent tool for learning new things, searching for information and relaxing. The net is good when it’s combined with different activities and hobbies. Note! Would it be possible to place the computer in a common area at home where it would be easier to supervise what children and youth are doing on the net.

Children and youth play, computer- and console games, mobile games and different games on the Internet. Of all the games that are sold only 4 % are K-18 games. Parents are responsible for knowing the age ratings set for games and choose suitable games for their child.
Many Internet games have an age rating. The age rating doesn’t say anything of how suitable the game is. It only warns of content that can possibly be harmful. Place the game devices in a common area at home so that an adult can supervise the gaming and also play together with the child.

Today the mobile phone has a self-evident place in all Finnish families. From an early age children have their own mobile phones. A mobile phone is useful when it’s used sensibly and has many functions: people can reach you and you can reach people, it functions as a calendar, you can play games, take photographs, listen to music and use the Internet. The negative sides of the mobile phone are mobile phone bullying and high bills due to different services that you can buy.

The TV is children’s favorite media. The TV offers lots of different programs for children, youth and adult. Programs that are harmless for adults, for example news, TV series and movies can contain images and deal with themes that children don’t understand.
TV programs and films are marked with age ratings and are there to protect the child from harmful material. Age ratings never tell the whole truth about the content of the program or the film. By placing the TV in common areas it might be easier for adults to keep an eye on what is showing. A great deal of what is shown on TV is also offered on the Internet and that’s why it’s important to include Internet in the rules regarding TV watching.

Children and youth enjoy a good film at the theater, at home and on the Internet. A good film offers pleasant and relaxed moments and you experience lots of different feelings. A film engages and is nice and interesting to discuss about. An adult must keep to the age ratings. The age rating doesn’t tell everything about the films content and that’s why it’s wise to see the films trailer before you take your child to see it.

Traditional books and magazines offer a good balance to all electronic media. Reading develops your media competence and fantasy skills. By thumbing through news papers a young person can develop a general knowledge about events of the world. In today’s hectic lives a book offers nice and cozy moments together with the family.
